China’s Importance to the United States

THESIS

The United States and China are two of the worlds greatest superpowers in every category, but they are mostly there because of each other. Even though some people dislike the alliance, it is vital to both their economies and to to the world’s.

The Chinese have a much lower standard of living, as a direct or indirect result of over population, over a billion people in their country. If they had the same standard of living as us, they would be in a much deep whole than our economy. But, with their low standard of living, their population is willing to do the dirty work for a minimal amount of pay, just enough to get them by. This makes it a lot cheaper to make products, do to the low pay, so many companies go to not just China, but many Asian countries, because of the low pay and cheap manufacturing.

Chinese workers can make up to an astounding $3 to $7 dollars a day. I’m of course being sarcastic, and this may seem terrible compared to an American worker who has to at least make $7.50 not a day, but hour, according to national law. Less pay equals cheaper made products, and even though we have to ship them over seas, the products sometimes dip down to half the price (varies on item) compared to if they were made in the United States. For example, something that may cost $20 dollars in the United States, costs $10 in China. So, if you were the CEO of a company, what would you buy, the same book for $20 or $10? If you weren’t dumb, you would choose the $10 one. This is why so many different companies choose to base their companies in China,  their low standard of living which causes low salaries.

Let’s pretend the US and China go to war, and that they now no longer trade with each other. The US would have to either start producing products in their own country, which would cost up to twice as much as it would in China, or find another country to built company manufacturing plants, and relocate to, which would equal just as much. While if they produced their own products, it would create jobs and help their economy out, it would end up costing more to produce in the US. China on the other hand would not have anyone to sell all their products to. China would be hit harder by the war, no one to sell their products to means they don’t have the money to build more products, if you can’t build more products then your companies lose money, if your companies lose money then jobs get lost, if jobs get lost the billion Chinese people would be in total chaos. All of this proves how China and US, even though some people do not think it’s a good idea, have to keep their alliance and keep trading with each other to keep not only their own economies stable, but the world’s.

Some sources have tension have started from the pressure of mass producing oil to battle the growing need for oil for superpowers and their economies. If the US likes the dictator then they don’t tend to get involved, but if they don’t like him then they will get involved and switch them to democracy. This aggravates many people with a dictator that the US likes and won’t change them to democracy even though they want to be. Saudi Arabian ships sent to the small island was thought as a threat to Iran to stop the protests. The Saudi Arabians are helping keeping the government stable. The two types of muslims have many 3disagreements. The government wrecked the churches of the Shiite Muslims.

The sources of tension in this movie was uprising, disagreeing with the country apart from the Libyan rebels that don’t believe in khadafi, some don’t even know what khadafi was doing wrong, they just want him out. The United States was on the rebels side even when they were the ones killing the khadafi people, but stepped in when khadafi starting winning and claimed that he there was a humanitarian issue when khadafi people were planning an attack on a rebel town. “We saved a Massacre” he puts it. But some argue if there was going to be a massacre at all. Oil is an important factor in the US decision to get involved in Libya. Libyan oil is famous for its low density, which makes it easy and cheaper to refine and put on the market to sell. The problem with the rebels having control of the country is that they’re not with controlling the oil industry. The US is worried that oil efficiency will go down.

2. The reason of conflict in the Middle East was the placement of Jews in Arabs homeland after the second world war. They thought the placement was a political outrage and stated, “Palestine is the homeland of the Arab Palestinian people. It is an indivisible part of the Arab homeland, and the Palestinian people are an integral part of the Arab nation.”
3. The Cold war helped the conflict escalade. The super powers of the Cold War found conflict in the middle east as a way to express their dominance over the other superpower. They each found allies, US and Israel and the Soviet Union with the Arabs and Palestinians. They gave their bickering allies new weapons and ways of destruction.
4. They are still fighting today over the lands Israel won during the 1967 war between them. Israel claimed important religious cities during the war and the Islamic people want it back. The two state solution will work if both sides agree to the land separation.

What role have natural resources played in the middle east?

Natural recourses have played a significant role in the middle east. Oil, which is in abundance in the middle east, is in high demand. All the major powers of the world are struggling for the oil. Water also plays a factor. Unlike oil, there’s not so much water. Therefor political disputes erupt within the middle east countries over who gets so much of the water.

What is the climate?

The climate is mostly arid, or semi arid. Subtropical. They have a rugged terrain-small mountains. Some deserts and some plains along the costs.

Does this country have a fresh water supply?

Parts of the country are have well enough water, like near the caspian sea, but other parts don’t come close to enough to have a farm or any form of agriculture. They have a gulf: The Persian Gulf. They have 8 total lakes in the country.

What industries does the country support?

It’s top industries are: petroleum, petrochemicals, fertilizers, caustic soda, and textiles.

What international  issues is the country currently facing?

The country is facing blames for terrorism, and currently being blamed for developing nuclear weapons.

What is the population of the country? What is the average life span? F? M?

The country of Iran has a total population of 48,181,463.

A males life expectancy is 70 years.

A females life expectancy is about 73 years.

What is the GDP per capita of the country?

The average Iranian will make about 10, 600 dollars a year.

1. I have no questions on the reading.
2. Muslims hate that U.S. forces are being involved in the “holy war”. They hate they we cover up the war on Afghanistan and Iraq by calling t the war on terrorism. They don’t like how the United States and it’s allies can tell Muslim enemies what they can do and what land they can take.
3. It is not politically incorrect and it’s not blaming the victim because the attacks on the United States and it’s citizens directly relate with the fact that al Qaeda and some Muslim nations don’t agree with the U.S. and it’s allies policies.
4. There has been no progress with the two-state solution because Israel does not agree with it. They do not agree to stop settlements so that a boarder can be made. 5. The people of Gaza are suffering because the Gaza strip is a military hot-zone right now. If Israel were to agree with Obama’s two-state solution, it would have to give up 98% of the territory won in the 1967 war, including the Gaza strip. It means a lot to Israel because it’s strategic to it’s security. If Israel keeps Gaza, it reduces 45 miles of  Hostile Borders to 8. And finally, if Israel gets rid of the Hamas, it would be better placed to negotiate deals with the United States. Why do they hate us? pt. 2

1. Why do muslims hate democrats such as ourselves? These could be answered by further reading or actually asking muslims instead of shooting them.
2. I completely agree with presidents Bush’s statements, they hate us for our government and what our government stands for and what it does for the other countries around the world. We’re in the way of their religion and they hate us for it. They want to overthrow some muslim governments because they don’t agree with them or they agree with United States. You might find out by asking them or readiung ahead.
3. I oppose bin Ladin, just like any American should. But he does bring up debatable points. Is the United States lying about the war being based on the prosperity of religion on economy? Or are they directly aiding Muslim enemies in an indirect attempt of war on Muslims? And is it really okay to occupy such important religious areas? I am on the American’s side, but I want both sides to get what they want.
4. “This is especially true where the population is young, idle, and bored; where the art is impoverished; where entertainment-movies theater, music-is policed or absent altogether, and where young men are set apart from the consoling and socializing presence of women. Which basically mean they don’t know the life they could be living, and are sick of living the life that they live. And they blame the same people al Qaeda blamed, and this generation of men led up to the creation of al Qaeda.
5. In recent polling, the popularity of al Qaeda has gone down. They are beginning to realize the United States is too strong to be beaten, and don’t agree with the al Qaeda’s way to keep fighting- it’s causing the lives of their loved ones. They also don’t agree with the massacres that are happening, to loved ones or not.

1. One of my questions is that why John Brannon wouldn’t answer Thomas’s questions, and if it was deliberately, why?

2. That would should convert or recruit countries around the world with propagandas saying how al Qaeda is corrupt and full of misery and death. And stating how the United States is full of justice.

3. She was not satisfied with Brannon’s answer and I don’t think she would be satisfied with Obama’s answer either because they both aren’t answering her questions.

4. It may be helpful to know their motives because if we know what they want we can negotiate with them and maybe find a solution both sides would like.

5. I’d say they commit those acts because they know al Qaeda’s motives and agree with them strongly enough to go against their own country to help them.
